The Reservations Team is here to assist all UNC Asheville community members with finding and requesting the ideal space for your event(s). Below are some of our most-frequently used spaces. From one-time meetings and banquets, to weekly meetings, to semester seminars, our team is here to help. Meeting Spaces
French Broad Room – HIG 125
This room is set as a seminar room for 30 or more, with tables in a large rectangle, with chairs. The furniture remains in the room. Any changes to the set up must be returned to the conference rectangle. This room is smart, with a built-in projector, screen and laptop, as well as DVD and cable TV viewing capability. Swannanoa Room – HIG 127
This conference room seats 10 people. The furniture remains in the room. This room is smart, with a built-in projector, screen and laptop, as well as DVD and cable TV viewing capability. Smart materials must be requested. A photo of this space may be viewed here.
Nantahala Room – HIG 128
This conference room seats 14 people. The furniture remains in the room. This room is smart, with a built-in projector, screen and laptop, as well as DVD and cable TV-viewing capability. Smart materials must be requested. A photo of this space may be viewed here.
1927 Room – HIG 223
This conference room is set in a rectangle for 18 with counter space on the side of the room that can be used for snack catering. The furniture remains in the room. This room is smart, with a built-in LCD screen and video-conferencing capabilities. Smart materials must be requested. Photos of this space may be viewed here and here.
to ki ya sdi – HIG 238
This conference room is set in a rectangle for 14. The wheeled furniture remains in the room, though it can be readjusted upon request. This room is smart, with a built-in LCD screen and phone conferencing capabilities. Smart materials must be requested. Photos of this space may be viewed here and here.
Special Event Spaces
The Grotto – HIG 108
First-floor space with a coffee-house atmosphere for 80+ people. Divider wall can be put down to close off space from the adjacent Food Court. Includes built-in 23′ x 16′ wood stage, audio inputs on front of stage, and limited stage lighting. An adjacent green room is available for use; the space cannot be changed or altered, except by special request. Smart AV materials are available by request, with input for a laptop and built-in projector and screen. DVD and cable-TV viewing capabilities are also available. Alumni Hall – HIG 114
Highly customizable first-floor event space that is perfect for banquets, large meetings, and large presentations. Smart AV materials are available by request, with a built-in projector and screen. Room is 78’x51′ and holds up to 280 people with auditorium (rows of chairs) seating or up to 160 with banquet round-table seating. Photos of this space may be viewed here, here, and here.
Blue Ridge Room – HIG 202/203
Highly customizable second-floor space that can be used as one space or split into two smaller rooms with divider wall. Perfect for banquets, large meetings, and large presentations. Smart AV materials are available upon request, with two built-in projectors and screens. The combined room is 4,620 sq. ft. and holds up to 475 people with auditorium (rows of chairs) seating or up to 220 with banquet round-table seating. A 24’x8′ stage remains in place at the front of the room but can be removed upon special request. Photos of this space may be viewed here, here, here, and here. Mountain Suites – HIG 225/226/228/229
This highly customizable, dividable second-floor space is perfect for banquets, small-to-medium meetings, and small-to-medium presentations. There are 4 Suites, each named after a nearby mountain surrounding the campus. Audio-visual equipment is available upon request, with a built-in projection screen in every room and wheel-in LCD displays available. The full set of suites combines to 85’x34′, while each room is approx. 34’x21′. Spaces Outside of Highsmith Student Union
In addition to Highsmith Student Union, the Highsmith Reservations Team also reserves spaces in Brown Hall, general-use academic classrooms, and outdoor spaces.

Display Tables
Student groups and departments can reserve tables to use for promoting and displaying their group/event. (Outside groups are charged a fee.) Tables are set out the day of the reservation.
